Canada's Tahltan Nation Says No More Jade Mining

One of Canada's indigenous groups, the Tahltan Nation of British Columbia, has declared that all jade mining within its territory must cease. The Nation is located in prime jade country, the Dease Lake area.
Some 25 companies are active in jade business in the area. The Tahltan Nation apparently seeks to "co-manage" commercial operations, which would seem to provide them with a substantial piece of jade action there.
Making a cultural claim to jade or other resources is not uncommon among First Peoples of various locations, for example no jade can be mined in New Zealand except by Maori people and may not be exported without government approval.
Here is the Tahltan story.

Big Sale of Jade and Other Gems in Myanmar

The 55th Myanmar Gems Emporium began June 20 and runs for ten days, with over 3,100 gem merchants from China, Thailand, Canada and the United States are attending the event. Most overseas merchants are from China.
According to Xinghua news agency, on sale are 6,795 jade lots, 336 gem lots and 360 pearl lots.
Myanmar Times reported that this year a ten percent fee will be charged up front on reserved items. In the past, one in four sales apparently has fallen through as prospective buyers walked away leaving their five percent deposit behind -- so the reserved lot went unsold.

Big Nephrite Jade Boulder Beauty For Sale

Over THIRTEEN POUNDS, probably 14 with the stand, a very nice wooden bowl-type stand.
This would be a centerpiece conversation focal point for any collection, gallery, room ornament.
Of course it is a beautiful dark green jade with swaths of lighter green as seen, if you are a carver or cutter you could make something of it for sure. Like, a lifetime of cabochons. Details on my Etsy site if unsold.
